AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE
Inspired by the story of writer Nataša Slavíková’s own mother, the humorous and heartfelt Waltzing Matilda follows debt-collector Karel (Karel Roden) who enjoys a humdrum, upper-class existence. But when his mother Matylda (Regina Rázlová), a former opera-turned-bar singer, unexpectedly loses her apartment, Karel has no choice but to take her in. Thrust into a shared household with his extroverted mother and troubled teenage son (Antonio Šoposki), Karel finds himself unwilling to connect with either. Parent-child relationships are put under even more pressure after Matylda is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Inevitably, the family of three face a difficult future, and the need for each other’s love and support is more vital than ever.
